Class Action Lawsuits = Power & Unity of Consumers

In a class action lawsuit aggrieved individuals share a common legal interest, and pursue a common goal. The courts in such cases would be facilitated as they dispense justice to a large number of people collectively, and provide compensation to aggrieved persons. In class action litigation, the offender party (or defendant) would not be in an advantageous position to subvert justice as the law finally catches up to it.

Class action lawsuits encourage victims of any form of injustice, wrongdoing, and unfair treatment to resolve disputes, and obtain justice collectively. All of these individuals get together and file a lawsuit. These persons constitute the "class". By doing this, the common man is able to take on, large corporate or private set-ups (or any other offender party).

In many cases, the consumer gets disillusioned from false promises, but does not react passively. In most cases, the action after the incident is discussed with family, friends, neighbours and people who matter. If similar incidents previously occurred and many people have been victims of such wrongdoing, a class action lawsuit is filed. Initially, the feeling of being "alone" in the fight for justice develops, however this quickly changes as the "class" comes together consisting of individuals who have been injured in the same way, and who are determined to take on the offender party that wronged them, regardless of how tough, powerful or influential this party may be.

Consumers would find expression, a powerful voice, and empowerment in class action lawsuits. The larger the size of the "class", the greater would be the chance of engaging a competent lawyer, and the probability of receiving the compensation and redress from the corporation (or any other offender party) would be high.

Class action lawsuits are the most commonly resorted to by the public. This is fitting, as there are many instances in today’s society in which people become the victims of unfair business practice on the part of corporations or other offender parties.

The Bottom Line

Class action lawsuits are advantageous on several accounts. "In unity lays strength" is the basic principal that gets followed. Consumers who are adversely affected by the offender party’s behaviour develop courage to take on the offender. This is a fight that gets well organized and acted within the confines of the law.

The advantage of resorting to class action lawsuits is that the people get motivated, committed and determined to fight to the finish. The feeling that they are not the only sufferers and fighters, and that others too are in the swim is enough to provide moral and psychological support.

Another advantage lies in the equitable distribution of compensation. The compensation gets awarded by the court and paid by the offender party, among the members belonging to the "class".

Litigation For the People

Class action lawsuits ensure that justice is within the reach of one and all. There is no one who is above the law, no matter how powerful the offender party (whether it is a corporation, organization, institution, etc.) might be. A wrong done is accompanied by punishment. Essentially, the people’s suffering, struggles, faith and hope would not go in vain.

For this to happen, they need to be organized and band together in a fight for justice. The system is there, only the beneficiaries have to use it effectively and fruitfully. Class action lawsuits justifiably ensure all these things.
